Schnaufer & Metis is a small firm in Hartsdale, New York. The two of us, John Schnaufer  and Peter Metis,  have over 50 years combined experience.  We formed Schnaufer & Metis so that we could provide the one-on-one, personalized service that we would want if we were in our clients’ place. Building Relationships

If a firm is especially high-volume, your problem will be one of many. There will be many associates working in tandem on your case. You may never deal with the same lawyer twice.

We do not operate that way. We know that you want to deal with one person, all the time. Over the course of our representation, we will get to know you. We will come to understand who you are and how you prefer to conduct your business. If we know more about you, we can tailor our advice and representation accordingly. No two of our clients want exactly the same thing, and we accommodate them as much as we can.

It must be working. Our senior partner has some clients who have stayed with him for over 30 years.

How we Litigate

We believe in striking a balance. There is a time for negotiation and a time to tenaciously hold to your position. Most people know that they do not want an attorney who is too conciliatory.

An overly aggressive stance can hurt our clients, too. Litigation costs time and money. We will not cut corners, but we do try to be cost-effective. There is no sense in bringing a lawsuit if the court costs and attorneys’ fees are higher than the original claim. There is also no sense in bringing motions and taking depositions unless we believe that it will help our client.

Sometimes negotiation is the best path. However, if a trial will serve our client’s best interests, then we take the case to trial. Whatever dispute you face, we work with you to find a solution that works best for you.
