PETER METIS' practice focuses primarily on litigation and real estate. He first met John Schnaufer after graduating from Fordham Law School in 1995. Peter was hired as an associate with Dean & Schnaufer and worked with John for over five years specializing in commercial litigation and employment law. He then went to the Long Island firm of Simmons, Jannace & Stagg, L.L.P. where he worked as an associate in their commercial litigation department with a concentration on representing retail financial institutions. Soon thereafter, in 2002, Peter left Long Island to team up with John again and form Schnaufer & Metis, LLP.

Since starting his legal career Peter has successfully litigated cases in state and federal court. He has represented a broad range of commercial clients including financial institutions, construction companies, universities, manufacturers as well as not-for-profit entities. He is admitted to practice in the Southern & Eastern Districts of New York and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and has experience litigating before administrative agencies and arbitration tribunals. While in law school, Peter was an associate editor for the Fordham International Law Journal, and his Note, "International Judicial Assistance; Does 28 U.S.C. 1782 Contain an Implicit Discoverability Requirement?" was published in volume 18 of the Journal. He was also a member of the Fordham Moot Court Negotiation Team where he was a national semi-finalist, and received the Archibald Murray award for Public Service. Peter received his undergraduate degree in Government & Politics (Cum Laude) from St. John's University. He is on the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Lawyers Association and is member of the Hellenic American Bankers Association, the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce and the American Hellenic Institute and is fluent in Greek.
